I
had to go to Liberty Lake, so I visited the Saltese Lowlands, adjacent
to the Saltese Highlands, and ebiked around the marsh. Along the
way I learned Saltese was named with an alternate spelling of a local
native chief Seltice (who got a street named after him in Post Falls)
and who grew grain and raised cattle on the lowlands until forced to go
live by a mission when the area was "settled." I also learned
Liberty Lake was named after a guy with the last name of Liberty...

Although they were shy of close contact, there were a lot of Northern Pintails passing through...

This photo not only shows how lovely they are but also their pin tail...

I have a hard time identifying hawks, but I know one when I see one...
