May 16 I went back to Northfield MN for my mother's memorial... Here
are photos from that journey, driving out and flying back. All
the bird photos are from Northfield, mostly the Carleton Arboretum Spotted Sandpiper along the Cannon River
Rose breasted grosbeak
Tennessee warbler
Field sparrow
brown headed cowbird
yellow rumped warbler (myrtle)
Flooding on the Cannon brought out large logs, which were building up on the 5th street bridge while I was there.
Looking down at some mountains in Montana, with two mountain lakes frozen (one in the shade on the left).

This
time of year I start taking bumble bee photos for a census of native
bee populations. I'm not very good at identifying them, but I
like taking the photos. This spring there have been very few honey
bees seen locally, but the native bumblebees seem to have done the
trick for our fruit trees...
