We
visited Round Lake State Park yesterday. As a plus, it's an
undeveloped 50 acre lake enclosed in a state park. As a minus,
it's very popular with campers and visitors. But yesterday we
only saw a handful of people on or along the lake, and none on the
trail around it...
This is at the outlet.
On
the far side is a swampy area with the largest patch of skunk cabbage
I've seen. It's name derives from the smell it emits while
flowering with yellow flowers in the spring. It's inedible--has
the same stuff in it that rhubarb leaves have...
On the side where the inlet comes in, it was good bird viewing at the bridge. Cedar waxwing.

We
made a day trip to Queen Lake north of Moyie Springs today. It's
a little pothole lake at 5000 elevation, very quiet and we had the
place to ourselves
