We
have a number of herbs that grow wild in our area, like tansy, St.
John's wort, and yarrow, which this is it --flowering. I don't
use yarrow, but the leaves smell nice when crushed...
I went for a couple mile bike ride today, and this butterfly perched nicely for me...
On
the way back I remembered to look for the mountain's lady's slippers,
orchids that are now blooming. Construction and road efforts have
eliminated most of their roadside environment along the lake road...
July 11 This time of the summer cow parsnips are lovely while blooming:

We
went looking for Wellington Falls, and after climbing far down the
wrong place, I got this photo nearby the falls. Later my
wife and son made it to the falls on the overgrown trail next to the
river...
I also saw several small frogs (probably spring peepers) in a puddle, including this one.
On the way home along lake Pend O'Reille was this classic sunset...
Meanwhile
at home the mountain spray is blooming. It also blooms near the
ocean, where it's called ocean spray for some reason.
Yellow
swallowtails are our biggest and most common butterfly in the NW.
But they flit about so much that this was the first I could
photograph this year, on vetch blossoms, which due to our cool wet
spring, are having a big year...

July 27 We hiked along Two Mouth Creek today, and stopped at Hunt Creek Falls on the way:
Two Mouth is a slightly smaller creek, but you can stand next to the falls and rapids...
A
lot of it flows over bedrock, and harder stones caught in depressions
during spring runoff drill holes into the rock, like a mortar and
pestle grinding...
Here Butters lends a sense of size to the display. It was in the 90's so he cooled off a lot...
July 31 With a Windows update came a free video editor, so I tried it out https://youtu.be/OM4Zb1ftYNQ The imagery is from last weeks waterfall trip...

..Eve
Lloyd's mysteries by Sonia Parin. Similar to Janet Evanovich,
with slightly less madcap humor, bus similar self effacing female
amateur detective going with a homicide detective...
