Here are photos from our 4000 mile road trip to the Midwest, Colorado, and points northwest:
This
was hard to find in Desmet SD... Those Ingalls got around as much as
Father Desmet... They lived in this house for one year. We
were on the Laura Ingalls Wilder trails more often than not in
Minnesota and Iowa...
This is a rusty blackbird, passing through Bettendorf Iowa
This is a view from Keystone to the mountains above Breckenridge ski area, now part of a National Monument.
Northern Utah had some wonderful vistas this close to 2 musket springs viewpoint
On
the way in Wyoming we always can count 100 antelope, but only saw about
30 on the way back through Utah, a bit of Wyoming, and Idaho (3 times
in and out)
More fine desert scenery
We
took the drive to Flaming Gorge NRA, and it was well worth the views.
The road had lots of signs explaining the age of the rocks in the
area. This view compares with the big bend on the Colorado River
in Northern Arizona.
This was the viw leaving the Flaming Gorge
Although snow and ice were frequently along the roads, we never had bad driving conditions... March 31 The grass widows are abundant as usual at this time of year:
