The
spotted towhee is common here in the summer, but hard to spot and
photograph, as it mostly flits about in the bushes. So I am happy
with this photo. The red eyes are unusual in birds, but not for
towhees....
Friends
took us sailing (and motoring during the mostly calm day) on Lake Pend
O'Reille, and there are a lot of float homes moored there at
Bayview, of which the one on the right is the most fanciful...
At
McDonald's where they moor, they provide birdhouses for the tree
swallows, so I was able to get this photo which helped me distinguish
them from the violet backed green swallows we have in Spirit Lake.

One of the later blooming flowers, this wild hyacinth often stands above the grass, but this was a nice composition...
Monet had his haystacks, I have my mill pond, until such time as it is developed...
I saw this bird behind our cabin today, believe it is a Nashville warbler...

This
is common around here, about to bloom. It's known as miner's
lettuce, edible, Claytonia--could probably figure out the species
when it blooms...
These columbines grow in a few colors here at the pottery, but only blue at our house...
This
was the happy discovery of the day--black necked stilts at Fireside
Park--the only stilts in N. America... They were around for a
half hour or more...

People
attracted to bilateral symmetry will love bunchberries, whose 4 leaves
and 4 petals are symmetrica... We have few of these locally, but
they are common at Priest Lake
While
enjoying our father's day hot dog roast with somemores, my son Birrion
pointed out the evening grosbeaks that had come to our feeder. The light was a bit weak, but this was a good shot of the male...

Rise
of the Black Dragon series by Jada Fisher It was free on Amazon,
but too depressing and full of character based dialog by the 7th
book... I liked it pretty well until then...
